The Significant Investor Visa (SIV) is an investment program sponsored by the Australian government that offers a pathway to permanent Australian residency. Overseas-based entrepreneurs and high net worth individuals can qualify for permanent residency by making complying investments in areas that are expected to benefit the Australian economy.
To comply, investments must:
● be provided by an Australian Financial Services (AFS) licensed manager domiciled in Australia
● have a Declaration Form 1413 available which provides proof of a fund’s complying status
● can be made through a ‘fund of fund’ or an Investor Directed Portfolio Service (IDPS) into complying managed funds.
The investment period is four years and applicants must invest at least $5 million into three streams of complying investments:
● Balancing Investment
● Emerging Companies
● Venture Capital and Growth Private Equity Funds
When applying, the onus is on investors to prove the funds in which they are investing are compliant.
